We are looking for a security analyst!

Codean Labs is the counterpart of Codean. While at Codean we make tools for security experts, at Codean Labs we use those tools (and others) to do research and help improve the security of software (and sometimes hardware).

If you started playing around with computers at an early age, have a computer science background, and love software security, you might fit right in with us!

Our office

In short, we offer the following:

  • Work remotely (see our digital office above) and communicate mainly asynchronously.
  • Enjoy analyzing the security of software using both source code and actual (pen)test environments. Sadly, sometimes clients do not want to provide code, but we will still help them.
  • Organize and create new CTFs.
  • Work independently, while also having the ability to take deep dives into discussing security issues, impact, and potential countermeasures with colleagues for how long it takes.
  • Once in a while a wild goose chases into vulnerabilities in open-source products as shown in our blog posts.
  • Optionally: improve Codean by doing research and maybe even some code.

To be clear, we are a small (currently 4 people) and dedicated bunch of people. This also means that we do not offer the following:

  • Clearly documented career progression framework.
  • Exact instructions on what you will do each day.
  • Corporate politics.
  • High salaries (40-70K range which we normalize from Dutch salary to the country you will work from).
  • Many (required) meetings.

You’ll then get to choose how we proceed. You can dive into our custom CTF to experience how we work and the types of challenges we tackle. Alternatively, we can have a chat to see if there’s a personal and cultural fit. We’ll do both eventually—you just decide which comes first!

If we both feel good about moving forward, we’ll schedule a follow-up interview to discuss your CTF results, evaluate culture fit, and answer (bidirectionally) any other questions. Based on that conversation, we’ll either make you an offer you can’t refuse—or decide to go our separate ways (for now).
